BLAK CAMP – MUNIMBA-JA RESIDENCY EOIs NOW OPEN

Munimba-ja Art Centre is calling for Expressions of Interest from two First Nations artists who live in, or are connected to, the Yugambeh language-speaking region (Gold Coast) to join the Sunshine Coast (Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Country) cohort of Blak Creatives for BLAK Camp 2026.

A CONTEMPORARY ABORIGINAL ARTIST CAMP

BLAK Camp is a 10-day Indigenous-led creative residency held on Gimuy/Cairns, delivered in partnership with Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) and NorthSite Contemporary Arts. The residency will take place from 1–10 March 2026, and selected artists must be available for the full program duration.

Artists will live in shared accommodation with the Blak Creatives cohort and will have access to the NorthSite print studio throughout the residency. The program centres professional development, cultural grounding, peer support and mentorship, creative exploration through printmaking, and meaningful industry connection within a culturally safe and supportive environment.

All travel, accommodation and program costs are fully supported.

BLAK Camp embeds Eldership, cultural protocols, cultural safety, creative excellence and strong community, supporting First Nations artists across career stages to grow, connect and create new work. Outcomes from the residency will be showcased at CIAF 2026: Reclamation & Regeneration.

This opportunity is open to First Nations artists connected to the Gold Coast region, including emerging, mid-career and established practitioners. Artists working across multidisciplinary practices are encouraged to apply, with a focus during the residency on screen printing on paper.
