General FAQs

What are the dates of CIAF 2019?

#ciaf2019 will be held from 10 - 14 July,  with Opening Night celebrations, Thursday 11 July, 2019.

How much does it cost to go to CIAF?

Apart from a few select events*, CIAF is FREE and open for all to enjoy. Held at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, CIAF has a full entertainment program, Art Market, Art Fair, demonstrations, artist talks, workshops, Eat Street and more, and it is all free to enjoy. 

*Ticketed events are the CIAF Opening Night Party and CIAF Fashion Performances. 

How do I get a CIAF program?

CIAF Programs are released early each year. Once the CIAF 2019 Program is available, you can find it on the website or through CIAF's social media platforms. 

How do I get involved in CIAF?

CIAF supports and showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have traditional connection to Queensland through a huge program of events, exhibitions and performance. If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is interested in participating as an artist, food vendor, performer, sales/installation team member or volunteer- we would love to hear from you.

Application forms are released approximately late- 2018 or early- 2019 and can be found under the 'PROGRAM' tab of the website. If you would like to express your interest prior to applications opening please send through you an email to artfair@ciaf.com.au In your email please explain what you are interested in (artists, performance program etc.), what you would like to present, images and/footage of your work, any questions and up to date contact details. 

Is there food available at CIAF?

Yes! There are a number of local food vendors that set up stalls during CIAF in EAT STREET. They provide a variety of food from ice creams to Indian curries, coffee, cold drinks and everything in between!  

Can I bring my own food and drink to CIAF?

Yes, except for alcoholic beverages, you can bring your own food and drink to all free events at CIAF held at the CCLT. Ticketed events vary. CIAF events held at venues other than the CCLT may vary in regulations about food and drink. Please contact the venue directly.

Can I take my dog to CIAF?

No. Dogs will not be permitted inside venue buildings or on the CCLT grounds.

Patrons with disabilities:

CIAF requests PWD patrons attending ticketed events to approach the CIAF Box Office on arrival to arrange assistance.

For regular daytime events, there is a drop off and pick up point inside the front gate for PWD.  Please advise gate attendant on arrival of your need to use the PWD drop off point.

Will there be toilets for patrons during CIAF?

Yes. There are various toilets around the CCLT site for patrons.

All donations to the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) are greatly appreciated and will contribute to CIAF operational costs. Your support assists CIAF in continuing to attract and nurture national and international recognition for the appreciation of the vital cultural contribution of Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Donations are processed securely through PayPal. A PayPal account is not required to make a donation.
