Cairns Indigenous Art Fair’s (CIAF) newly formed partnership with DesignCloud may have serious underpinnings but on the surface, is a whole lot of laughs for festival-goers attending Blak Comedy Up Late at Tanks Arts Centre on Friday 12 July.

DesignCloud is the presenting partner of this year’s, one-night only comedy event featuring some of Far North Queensland’s ridiculously funny Indigenous stand-ups.  Hosted by Constantina Bush, the line-up includes Sean Choolburra (Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala), Diat Alferink (Wakaid Girl, Lyndhurst Kid, NITV Express Yourself), Jay Wymarra (Deadly Funny).

CIAF Artistic Director Janina Harding said Blak Comedy Up Late will cap off a great night of entertainment and performance as the post-party wrap of this year’s fashion performance, Buwal-barra… “Messenger” Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. also being held at Tanks Arts Centre.

Recently launched in Cairns with a background in printing, DesignCloud is a ground-breaking brand which provides high quality designer wallpaper featuring Indigenous art in what is considered both innovative and a world-first.

DesignCloud Founder and Director, Matthew Connolly said his company philosophy to support local Indigenous communities and artists in particular, works beautifully with CIAF and its aim to focus the world’s attention of Queensland’s First Peoples’ art and culture.

“We are taking Indigenous art to a global audience through the wallpaper medium and a user-friendly online platform that translates stunning Indigenous artworks into decorative statements for home or office environments.

This partnership will help showcase indigenous artists and share their art and their stories within with the world,” Mr Connolly said.

Blak Comedy Up Late is free for anyone attending the fashion performance between 6pm and 8pm at Tank 3.  Alternatively, tickets are $10 at the door.
