Alick Tipoti

Alick Tipoti is a Koedal (crocodile), a Zugubaw Baydham (seven stars shark constellation and a Kuki Guuba (northwest monsoon wind through his father's side from Baadhu/Mabuyag. He is also a Koedal (crocodile), Thabu (snake) and Dhoeybaw (wild yam) through his mother’s side from Saibai. 

A preeminent cultural knowledge holder, fluent in the endangered language of Kala Lagaw Ya, Tipoti's deep connection to his cultural roots informs his artistic practice, imbuing his creations with stories, traditions, and a profound understanding of his ancestral lands, seas, and constellations. Tipoti is a skilled choreographer, seamlessly blending traditional dance forms with contemporary expression. His dynamic performances and intricate movements further amplify the narratives woven into his art.

Tipoti's work has garnered significant international acclaim, featuring in exhibitions across the globe.
