About
Badu Art encompasses a diverse creative practice spanning printmaking, etching, textiles, jewellery and carving. Grounded in the cultural traditions of Badu Island and the broader Zenadth Kes, the work reflects enduring relationships with the ocean, land, skies and the many living beings that inhabit them.
Drawing on ancestral knowledge, storytelling and Aislan Kustom, the artists create works that speak to the interconnectedness of people, place and environment. References to the four winds, the rain, stars and sun weave throughout the practice, expressing a worldview in which culture and Country remain deeply entwined.
Rich in symbolism and cultural knowledge, Badu Art offers insight into the living traditions of Badu Island, celebrating a heritage that continues to be maintained, shared and renewed through contemporary artistic practice.
