About
Claire Freeman (Agale) is a Meriam Mer woman from Zenadth Kes/Torres Strait whose practice spans basketry, weaving, and workshop facilitation. Working with raffia, lomandra, and banana leaf, she creates woven forms that celebrate texture, colour, and cultural connection.
With strong family ties to the Gold Coast, Freeman has exhibited with BLEACH* Festival, SWELL, and HOTA, contributing to the region's vibrant arts community.
Creek Cottage Weaving is an extension of her interest in colour, texture, and soft textiles, bringing together contemporary weaving practices with a deep appreciation for natural materials and making.
