Felicity Chapman

Felicity is a proud Aboriginal woman (stolen generation descendant with ties to Tinnenburra Station, western Queensland). She has lived on Ngaro Country/Whitsundays since 2001. She is a traditionally trained Aboriginal weaver, contemporary textile artist and visual storyteller.

Felicity began her traditional Aboriginal weaving journey to connect with her culture, build community and revitalise traditional cultural creative practices that were disrupted through colonisation.

Through a process of multi-layered hand botanical and eco dyeing; the wisdom and sentient memories of sacred land and sea countries are imprinted on a range of luxurious silk and cotton fabrics and natural fibres.

As a contemporary Aboriginal weaver and textile designer, Felicity utilises traditional and contemporary tools, materials, techniques and concepts, to create one off pieces of wearable art including textiles, earrings, necklaces, chest plates, fascinators, and dillybags.
