About

Gab Titui Cultural Centre is a contemporary art gallery and keeping place for cultural artefacts located on Waiben/Thursday Island, the land of the Kaurareg Nation in Zenadth Kes/Torres Strait.

The name Gab Titui, meaning “Journey by the stars,” reflects Torres Strait Islander connections to the skies, as well as the two traditional languages of the region, Meriam Mir and Kala Lagaw Ya.

The Centre showcases works by Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area artists, presenting a diverse range of contemporary and traditional practices. Through exhibitions and public programming, it celebrates the creativity, cultural knowledge, and artistic strength of the region.
