Joshua Bonson is a contemporary award-winning artist with work held in private and public collections both nationally and internationally.
The core of Bonsons works titled SKIN is his totem, the Saltwater Crocodile, a powerful symbol of identity, heritage and place; exploring the reptile’s protective skin as a metaphor for ancestral strength, kinship and cultural memory, through dynamic compositions elemental and raw, yet deeply refined, inviting viewers into an intimate dialogue with Bonsons personal landscape.
Palette knives and bare hands build tactile surfaces. Scale-like markings, textured flowing forms speak to Country, Sea, Memory and Movement. Abstract in appearance; meditations on belonging, family, reconnection and renewal.
