Munimba-ja Arts Centre is a 100% First Nations-led, emerging arts organisation based on Kabi Kabi Country (Sunshine Coast), supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists across South East Queensland. Working through a distributed “Art Centre with no walls” model, Munimba-ja delivers culturally grounded programs including residencies, exhibitions, mentorship and peer-led initiatives.

Central to its work is Blak Creatives, a professional development program supporting emerging and mid-career artists through critique, networking, skill-building and industry pathways. Alongside this, initiatives such as BLAK Camp provide intensive opportunities for artists to develop new work, strengthen cultural and creative practice, and build national connections.

Munimba-ja champions contemporary practice across diverse mediums, including works on paper, printmaking, installation and multidisciplinary forms. Its approach prioritises relational practice, cultural integrity and long-term artist development, fostering sustainable, self-determined practices grounded in Country, community and lived experience.
