About
Nathanael Edwards is an emerging First Nations artist working across photography, sculpture, and mixed media. As the only known practising male artist connected to the near-extinct Bagirgabarra people, his work carries a profound cultural responsibility. Edwards’ practice is grounded in visual truth-telling—exploring themes of identity, absence, and intergenerational memory through a restrained yet powerful aesthetic.
His works often interrogate silence and presence, revealing what is withheld as much as what is shown. Through carefully constructed imagery and material forms, Edwards creates spaces for reflection on history, cultural continuity, and the complexities of contemporary First Nations experience.
