About

The Indigenous Art Excellence class at Trinity Bay State High School has formed a collective named Ngalpa Kalmel. The group consists of nine First Nations female students in Years 10 and 11, aged between 15 and 17, each of whom has designed a unique fabric and look for this collection.

Ngalpa Kalmel is a small artistic collaborative committed to supporting one another, learning together, and keeping culture strong. Through shared knowledge, storytelling, and artmaking, the students are developing their creative voices and learner agency while seeking opportunities to demonstrate their artistic abilities.

The Indigenous Art Excellence classroom is a safe, inclusive space where students are encouraged to express identity through art and inspire others by keeping culture alive in contemporary, vibrant, and innovative ways.
