About
Pormpuraaw Art and Culture Centre Incorporated is an Aboriginal owned and governed enterprise providing comprehensive, important, and responsive cultural and artistic services to the people of Pormpuraaw. The Pormpuraaw Art and Culture Centre aims to strengthen and showcase culture, skills, and knowledge as both an institution within the community, across Australia, and the world. The centre is also vitally important to the community as a keeping place for items with significant cultural value to the community. At our core, we intend to act as a place of cultural enrichment for the people of Pormpuraaw. We act as a resource centre, meeting place, and local employer in a way that nurtures the cultural health of the Thaayorre, Kugu, and Wik peoples. Ultimately, we intended to empower the community by cultivating leadership skills, artistic talent, and traditional knowledge sharing. The current and future success of our artwork has helped to make Pormpuraaw culture known throughout Australia and around the globe.
