About
Sandra and Shara Delaney, mother and daughter, from Quandamooka Country, Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). Representing Salt Water Murris Quandamooka (SWMQ), their creative collaboration blends generations of cultural knowledge, storytelling, and contemporary design.
Dr. Sandra Delaney is a respected cultural consultant, Jandai language advocate, and senior artist whose work celebrates the strength of Quandamooka women and the revival of language and identity through art. Her daughter, Shara Delaney, is a visual artist and designer known for her bold use of colour, pattern, and symbolism that reflect Sea Country and family connection.
Together, they bring traditional stories into the modern fashion landscape — weaving Jandai words, natural materials, and the textures of Country into wearable art. Their designs embody “Galguru - Yamstick" and “Garumba Yari – Talk Big/Say Something”, honouring language, culture, and the powerful bond between mother and daughter.
