About
Sisters, Verhonda and Jacinta Smith Robins, are proud Wangkumara women with strong community and family connections to Bourke. Their traditional lands span the Wangkumara arid Corner Country region, where the borders of south west Queensland, north east South Australia and north west New South Wales meet.
Working through weaving and contemporary sculptural forms, the sisters blend traditional knowledge with modern techniques, creating artworks that honour their ancestors and lived experiences. Their pieces explore themes of identity, belonging and resilience, inspired by stories from family, Country and community.
Beyond their own practice, Verhonda and Jacinta share their own cultural knowledge through weaving workshops and yarns that support learning, healing and reconnection.
