Wei’Num Arts

Wei’Num Arts was established over 20 years ago by a small group of artists determined to reclaim traditional and contemporary art practices lost during the forced closure and removal of the Mapoon people from their homeland. Their vision was to create a space where Mapoon artists could reconnect with culture, share stories, and strengthen community through creative expression.

Over the years, this vision has endured. Wei’Num Arts has become a vibrant hub for cultural renewal, providing a safe and supportive environment for both established and emerging artists. The centre plays a vital role in encouraging young people to explore their artistic talents while learning from Elders and keeping traditional knowledge alive.
