About
Connie Rovina (Wawu-minimini) is a Kuku-Thaypan woman of Cape York and Widi of Central Queensland, and the owner-operator of WidiWorks Aboriginal Art Gallery in Kuranda. Working across contemporary design and traditional storytelling, her practice blends cultural knowledge with contemporary expression to preserve and promote Indigenous heritage.
With over 40 years of professional experience in the arts, Rovina has curated and participated in more than 100 exhibitions nationally and internationally. Her work spans cultural education, community advocacy, and arts leadership, with a focus on maintaining cultural integrity while supporting the integration of Aboriginal art within tourism, corporate, and business sectors.
She regularly delivers workshops, public art programs, and industry initiatives, alongside gallery operations including exhibitions, sales, marketing, consultations, and trade fair representation. Her stall presents original paintings, limited edition prints, and selected handcrafted jewellery and leather works.
