Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) has attracted significant interest from the Indigenous and community health sector this year announcing three partnerships promising mutually beneficial outcomes.
In welcoming on board Apunipima Cape York Health Council and Life Without Barriersas well as Cairns Emergency Medical Association (CEMA), back for its second year, CIAF’s General Manager Vanessa Gillen said the event’s all-inclusive nature and philosophies are attractive to community organisations.
“We have witnessed a definite increase in interest from community who want to be aligned with CIAF – be it to position and profile their organisation or share in the community goodwill.
“There is real value in being a part of CIAF which has been built on wholesome foundations of celebrating Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and culture and sharing it with others.”
According to Ms Gillen each and every partnership has been tailor made to suit.
“In the case of CEMA, the agreement is based on the provision of high resolution, professional imagery of the event for display in the medical emergency ward. For Apunipima, they will be presenting our Saturday evening film screening event, Pitcha’s After Dark at which they can feature a series of preventative health advertisements while Life Without Barriers will support Gungun Warru Warru children’s art and craft activities that neatly aligns with family values and the importance of caring for community.
“We are excited and humbled by the interest being shown in our event and believe it is a sign that CIAF is coming of age especially in light of next year’s decade anniversary. “
Commenting on the new partnership, Apunipma Chief Executive Officer Paul Stephenson said “Apunipima are proud to be sponsors of the culture rich event, CIAF.
“This event not only gives economic opportunity to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders population but also the ability to showcase their passion and culture through the form art.”
Life Without Barriers Operations Manager Disability and Alternate Care Asher Meadows said they are proud to sponsor CIAF.
